Tips
The ing form of start, begin, continue always follow with
infinitive with to:
I am starting to worry about my health.
Teach somebody to do:
He taught
me how to arrive.
In British:
love, like, dislike, and hate are usually followed by gerund:
I love playing tennis.
…somebody doing something
I love
him calling me on my birthday.
Stop
He says we have to stop thinking this way = stop something you were
doing.
Have you ever stopped to consider how stressful school life is? = stop doing
one thing in order to something else.
Remember
I remember
spending hours in exam rooms = remember something I did before.
I should remember
to see them as individuals = make a mental note to do something in the
future.
Try
Try googling the biographies of young entrepreneurs = do
something in order to solve a problem.
We should try to create new learning environments = make an
effort to do something difficult.
Others examples:
She remembered to post the letter.
She remembered posting the letter.
He stopped to read the notice.
He stopped reading the notice (to talk to his friends).
He is trying
