At the Doctor’s - Sick Ill




I keep = I can’t stop

Things that happen lots of times.

I don’t want these things happen.

Ex:

I keep walking up at night.

I can’t stop coughing.



Now, what seems to be the problem?

I am not feeling very well.

I have not been feeling very well recently.

I have got a terrible stomach ache.

My chest hurts.

I keep getting really bad headaches.

I can not stop sneezing.



Do I need some antibiotics?

I am allergic to penicillin.

How often should I take them?

Do I need to make another appointment ?



Sakit



I feel ill/terrible, sick, better.



My (back, arm, foot, leg) hurts.



I have got :



A stomach ache



I don't feel very well.

I have a heart attack




A runny nose

My nose produces liquid all the time, usually when I have a cold.

A rash

A group of small red spots on the skin, often caused by allergies.

Wheezy

I breathe noisily and with difficulty, particularly when I have asthma or an allergy.

Hay fever

An illness with symptoms similar to a cold, that is caused by flowers or grass in spring and summer.

Diarrhea

I have to go to the toilet all the time.

Sneeze

I blow air down through my nose suddenly for example when I have a cold.

Food poisoning

I eat some food that is bad and makes me ill.

A blocked-up nose

I can’t breathe through my nose.



Now, what seems to be the problem?

Have you got any other symptoms?

Yes, I feel sick all the time.

I am just going to take your temperature.

Hmm, it is a bit high.

Right, here is a prescription for some medicine.

How often should I take?

Three times a day. Then come back in a week if you are not feeling better.

I don’t think so.

Not at the moment, no.

A disease caused by bacteria or virus = an infection
When you breath noisily and with difficulty = wheezy
An office or building where I go to see a GP = a surgery
An illness caused by flowers or grass in spring or summer = hay fever
A big room with beds in a hospital = a ward
The place where I have an operation = an operating theatre
A type of painkiller = paracetamol
I do this a lot when I have a cold = sneeze
Be sick, vomit = throw up.
