Gerund - Infinitive

In English if you want to follow a verb with another action you must use gerund/infinitive

1. GERUND

4. Verbs followed by gerund+inf (with a change in meaning)

Forget
I forgot to meet him. (I didn't meet him because I forget to do it)
I forgot meeting him. (I don't have memory of meeting him before)

Go on

• He went on to learn english. (He ended one periode of time before this)

• He went on learning english. (He continued learning the languages)

Quit

• She quit to work here.
• She quit working here.

Regret

• I regret promising to help you.
• I regret to tell you that we can't hire you.

Remember

• She remembered to visit her grandmother.
• She remember visiting her grandmother.

Stop

• I stopped to call you.
• I stopped calling you.

Try

• I tried to open the window.
• I tried opening the window.

Resolution

I'm going to work less and have more fun.
I'm going to have a holiday this year.
I'm going to move to Jakarta this year.
I'm going to do a computer course.
I'm going to get fit.
I'm not going to work every night.
I'm not going to eat sweet things.
